Hands in Hands Erasmus+/ eTwinning project

he Erasmus+ / eTwinning project Hands in Hands (HIH) is a game-based learning project that aims at promoting an inclusive education and an effective intercultural communication based on transnational collaborative team work across Europe. In order to promote equal rights for pupils with physical and intellectual disabilities as well as pupils who are demotivated and are in danger of early dropping out of school, teachers from Croatia, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Turkey explore and share the endless pedagogical possibilities of using games in the classroom.

Game Based Learning (GBL) emerged from the idea to involve computer games in education so as to enhance the learning process by creating a relaxed, entertaining and familiar media that captures and retains the students’ attention and interest in a subject (Prensky 2005).

Today students are highly attracted by the modern technology devices, spending significant amount of time interacting with devices rather than their peers. Thus, the traditional face-to-face games seem to be pushed aside and replaced by the computer games.

In Hands in Hands project game-based learning approach, we intend to bring together traditional games and modern technology in education in order to enhance motivation in learning activities and produce positive outcomes not only regarding the educational objectives, but also to the physical and emotional development of the pupils involved.
